Gout
Gout is a common and complex type of arthritis, which can be affected by all ages, and the incidence rate of men is higher than that of women.
Patients with gout often experience sudden joint pain at night, the onset of acute, severe pain, edema, redness, and inflammation in the joints, and the pain is gradually reduced until it disappears, lasting several days or weeks.
When the pain occurs, the patient wakes up in the middle of the night while sleeping. Some patients describe the pain as similar to the burning of the big toe.
The most common joint is the big toe (medical term: first metatarsal), but the joint is not limited to this. It is also common in the joints of the hands, knees, elbows, etc. (see picture set).
The affected joints will eventually become red, swollen and inflamed. After the edema, the tissues will become soft and movement will be restricted, which will eventually affect daily life.
If there is no timely treatment, the consequence of delay is that the pain will become stronger and more unbearable.
If you have a fever at this time, it means that inflammation has occurred. Not only that, but the joints themselves will also be damaged. In severe cases, kidney stones and even kidney failure may occur, which is life-threatening.
Definition of Gout/Hyperuricemia
Internationally, HUA is defined as: under a normal purine diet, two fasting blood uric acid levels on different days: male blood uric acid>420 μmol/L, female blood uric acid>360 μmol/L.
When the blood uric acid level exceeds the saturation of joint monosodium urate and precipitates and deposits on the peripheral joints and surrounding tissues, it is called gout.
HUA without gout attacks is called asymptomatic HUA. Because it has no obvious clinical symptoms, it has not attracted enough attention.
For gout, there are two main methods: drug therapy and diet therapy. The main drugs used to treat gout are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and glucocorticoids, but the current drug treatment methods are less used; diet with low diet is a relatively common and healthy treatment method. Diet therapy mainly includes the following aspects: reduce the consumption of high-purine foods and high-fat foods, such as meat, game, seafood, food and beverages containing filial piety, etc.; eat foods with low purine content as much as possible, such as rice, wheat, starch, Sorghum, eggs, pig blood, duck blood, etc. In addition, gout patients should also eat more fruits and vegetables, because most fruits and vegetables are low-purine foods. Limit alcohol consumption. Alcohol consumes a lot of water in the body and produces a lot of purines during the fermentation process. The more purine content in the body, the more uric acid is produced by metabolism. At the same time, alcohol stimulates the liver to produce uric acid, which will increase the incidence of gout and gout. Hazard to the human body. Drink plenty of water. After the human body drinks a lot of water, it can excrete uric acid from the body through urine. Exercise more, strengthen exercise, and discharge excess body fat.
